About SK.iiNK
[pronouns: she/her]
I’m Sage Kurnie, aka SK.iiNK, and I am a tattoo artist based out of San Jose, CA. I love what I do, and I strive to provide a sense of safety and respect to everyone I get the chance to work with. To me, the act of giving and receiving a tattoo is one that requires an incredible level of trust between both the artist and the client, and it is my goal to do whatever I can to help establish and maintain that.
I specialize mostly in black and grey illustrative work, bold and gritty woodcut styles, dark abstract, and fineline realism. I love working on projects that involve botanical and natural elements, insects, alien forms, and abstract linework. I don’t typically work with color, but I’m open to including it in certain designs.
Before tattooing, I studied ecology and conservation at UC Berkeley and worked on the Eel River studying fish, bugs, algae and their ecosystems. After graduating, I spent some time teaching art and dipping my toes into art therapy. Tattooing had been an interest of mine for a long time, but it took me a while to believe in myself. In college I started doing handpoke tattoos on myself and friends, and that opened the door to realizing that this was something I could actually do. And really wanted to do. Once I decided to fully jump into tattooing, I quickly fell in love with the art and haven’t looked back since.
